    Bill Mullen

    The 2020 Samhain Celtic New Year Festival is excited to welcome Bill Mullen! Born and raised in Dundee, Scotland, Bill’s musical launch came on Scottish Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve) when he was eleven and performed for the first time, to his parent’s surprise. By age 16, he was performing concerts on his own.

He has performed with medieval band STARY OLSA since 2002, on vocals, shawms, gusli (Baltic Psaltery), rebec, hurdy-gurdy and more.

    The 2020 Samhain Celtic New Year Festival is excited to welcome Old Man Flanagan’s Ghost for this special virtual session. Old Man Flanagan’s Ghost has been bringing a variety of Celtic music to audiences for years. Based out of Toronto, they are best described as ‘high-energy Celtic folk’, combining the sound of traditional folk instruments with a passionate intensity.

    2020 Samhain Celtic New Year Festival kicks off with special virtual concert

    The Ceili of the Valley Society’s Virtual Samhain Celtic New Year Festival kicks-off October 3 with festival openers Jim and Susie Malcolm “Live from Scotland.” Jim Malcolm is the ultimate Scots troubadour. Traveling the world with his guitar, harmonicas, and engaging wit, he sings the traditional songs of Scotland and his own masterfully crafted songs in a style which is modern and accessible, yet utterly authentic. He is highly regarded as an interpreter of the songs of Robert Burns, and has been described as “one of the finest singers in Scotland in any style”. The virtual concert takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 3 via Zoom. Suggested donation $10-$15…
