Emmet Cahill

The 2021 Samhain Celtic New Year Festival welcomes Emmet Cahill.

 

Emmet Cahill is 30 years old and grew up in a small town in the midlands of Ireland, called Mullingar.

 

He is regarded as Ireland’s most exciting young tenor and first came to the attention of audiences throughout North America and Australia as lead singer with PBS music phenomenon Celtic Thunder, recording 6 #1 billboard albums with the group. 

Notably in 2012, they performed a special concert at the Pentagon at the invitation of General Dempsey, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. 

 

Emmet has performed in over 80 cities across the US and Canada to date, and made a sellout solo concert debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall last march, to rave reviews. In 2017, he signed a major recording deal Sony Music and his debut Irish Album ‘Emmet Cahill’s Ireland’ went straight to #1 on the World music Billboard charts. He has performed in churches and theatres nationwide, as well as symphony halls with orchestras in Florida, Tennessee, and New York. He was chosen to open the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade last March and was named ‘Irish tenor of the Year’ by the Irish American Music association, and asked to perform for the March 17th Mass at New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral last spring.

 

As the most sought-after Irish Tenor of his generation, Emmet’s 2019 schedule saw him perform in over 60 cities throughout North America.

Emmet’s concerts comprise of a varied programme of Irish classics, including Danny Boy, and ‘Irish Eyes are Smiling’, as well as gospel favourites like ‘How great Thou Art,’ in addition to Broadway hits such as ‘Bring Him Home’ and ‘Music of the Night’

 

He has recently returned to opera studies and currently studies with a voice teacher in New York. Emmet has performed as a guest artist in various recitals throughout the city, most recently for ’Opera Under the Arch’ at Washington Square Park.
